About Us
We’re StudioForty9. Founded in May, ‘07, and based in Cork, Ireland - we’ve been lovingly designing, engineering, welding, and hand-crafting our way to web development glory over the past couple of years.
Realistic fanatics when it comes to websites, we build in (X)HTML & CSS, to web standards, Search Engine Optimised by nature - we put a lot of thought into our markup. On the development side, we code in PHP & mySQL, Javascript & Ajax, ActionScript3 for Flash and Flex - which means if you can dream it (if you can even dream of the dream of it) we can build it.
We’ve worked on all sorts of Content Management systems - from the home-grown to the over-blown - in a variety of frameworks, exploiting a multitude of approaches, from flat file includes to XML and XSLT. This means we know our business, inside out and from the ground up. It also means we can work within and customise 3rd party work. We’ve built extensions and plugins for a number of systems; most notably the ground-breaking Magento E-Commerce System
But that’s not all…
Okay - we love web design and development, but we also love design in general, and we savour the opportunities that come our way to do Print Work and identity / logo work.
We’ve been heavily involved in Design Week Cork, since it began (ahem, 2007…) and have contributed in terms of work exhibited, organisational work along with sponsoring the week itself.
Our Team
Gerard Keohane
Web citizen since 2001, when CGI-Perl hit counters were all the rage, Ger has worked on web and interactive media projects spanning the sublime to the ridiculous. His current technology passion is Flex, his favourite colour is still PANTONE 382
Ger is largely responsible for Project Management and Client Liaison.
Eoghan O’Brien
Eoghan is an exceptionally talented developer, possessed of exquisite taste when it comes to web design, tragically Eoghan has serious commitment issues around Content Management Systems and can be often heard to exclaim ‘lads I found another one’.
Alan Morkan
Alan does e-commerce systems - namely Magento. If you ask around, you’ll hear of blood, sweat and tears when the M-word is mentioned. But after 18 months of playing around with it, Alan thinks he’s cracked it. Complicated problems are now fun.
